About GIPRo
As the Irish stateman and philosopher, Edmund Burke (1729-1797) said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” However, 20 young men and women have said they will not simply watch their country and future waste away and they are going to be first cohort of a Governance Internship Program (GIPro). GIPro aims at contributing to the pipeline of leadership development of young graduates from student life to active service in Kenya’s public sector.
Successful candidates will go through 12 months of intensive training, mentorship, coaching and internship in government departments, parliament, counties, and/or constituencies. GIPro is sponsored by Hesabika Trust in partnership with Kenya Government institutions: Kenya School of Government (KSG), The Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), and The Judiciary Training Institute (JTI). In addition, we are working with Africa International University’s Center for Values, Ethics, Law, Leadership, Governance, and Public Policy (CVELLGPP), as well Hesabika’s founder, FOCUS Kenya.

The subsidized cost of this program for each intern is Ksh 240,000/=, which is 20,000/= per month. In the current difficult economic climate, this is too much for the candidates to raise on their own and we wouldn’t want those who qualify to miss being on this program on account of finances. We know the economic hardship is affecting us all, so we are only requesting you to give KES 1,000/= only per month for 12 months, plus your prayers for them!
