
Rachel Kitonyo Devotsu is the current Chair of Hesabika Trust and the Regional Manager Africa, McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer.
She has 20 years experience in tobacco and cancer control ranging from advocacy for tobacco control legislation in Kenya, building capacity of civil society organisations in 10 Sub-Saharan African countries to advocate for adoption and implementation of tobacco control laws within their countries, training over 300 government policy makers and enforcement agents on adoption and implementation of cancer control measures at a regional and global level, providing expert advice to a team developing tobacco control dashboards for 6 African countries and coordinating establishment of tobacco tax advocacy coalitions in Kenya and Uganda. Rachel was the recipient of a WHO World No Tobacco Day Award in 2020 in recognition of her tobacco control efforts in the African region.
Rachel currently serves as the Board Chair at International Institute for Legislative Affairs, an NGO working with policymakers, including government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Parliament, County Governments and other stakeholders to promote development, reform and implementation of pro-people policies and legislations.
