Dr. Nelson Gitonga is the founder and CEO of Insight Health Advisors, a Kenyan Health Systems & Health Markets Development firm. He has over 31 years of experience in health systems strengthening, private sector engagement, health markets development/facilitation and healthcare leadership and management. His health sector experience spans the public and private health sectors, and global health development agencies. He has provided technical and strategic advice to ministries of health and their departments/programs in SSA and SE Asia with a key focus on health policy and regulatory reforms, strengthening demand-side healthcare financing/risk pooling, commodity management and supply chain reforms, development of healthcare leadership and institutional strengthening, and deployment of innovative healthcare technologies and processes. He has an MBChB degree from the University of Nairobi Kenya and Postgraduate Diplomas in Health Systems and Healthcare Management from the University of London (UK), Galilee International Management Institute (Israel) and National Insurance Academy (India). He is also an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of IESE (Spain) and Strathmore Business Schools (Kenya). Dr. Gitonga has served in various leadership roles in FOCUS Kenya including vice Chair and Chair of NGC, FOCUS Advisory Committee and IFES Governance Ministry. He is actively involved in direct student, staff and associates ministry. He is a current board member of Jumuiya Hospitals (NCCK) and previously served as the Vice Chair of PS Kenya Board. He is a member of CITAM Valley Road where he once served as an elder.
