I joined the Governance Internship Program in faith and anticipation of a greater future ahead. Fast backwards, I always wanted to work with the government though I wasn’t clear on the particulars of what exactly I wanted to do. With a formal background in technology, I looked forward to joining any government ministry or agency and using my skills to add value. One day a friend shared an advert on the GIPro recruitment by Hesabika Trust and after reading through it, I knew deeply that was something I could consider.

The inductions and trainings before the placement changed my life. It is through the training that I found clarity of purpose. Listening from different speakers both at the different trainings and leadership dialogues changed my life completely and contributed to my journey of becoming. The teachings improved my personal value and faith in God.

The Governance Internship Program gave me a chance to live by the scripture “…and the just shall live by faith.” Going through the program without knowing what the future holds to me was obeying God without further instructions and questioning. This grew my faith and contributed to my spiritual growth.

With my Mentor Dr. Jane Munga, in a youth forum at Swahilipot Hub, Mombasa

I applied to the program with three specific objectives; training, mentorship and networking. For sure my expectations were not cut short. The training I received from GIPro will always be for a lifetime. I was paired with a mentor who became a blessing in my life, by helping me to connect with my life’s purpose and calling. Through her, I have learnt a lot about life generally, career and working with the government. It was a pleasure learning from her life and professional experience. It was through GIPro that I was placed in the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs under the National Communication Secretariat and indeed I can not thank God enough for that opportunity. I got to learn and unlearn as far as my tech career is concerned. I networked with like-minded professionals, and I was lucky to work on different projects, participate in different committees, and task forces that widened my social capital, improved my work ethics and gave me a platform to live and act to what I was initially taught during induction in the beginning of the program.

I have learnt to totally believe in God and to be a Christ’s ambassador in every space that God places me. GIPro has taught me to be driven by call and not desire. I have learnt to be a value driven leader and stand out for the truth, just, noble, and right. This has challenged me to be a woman of integrity.

Love it.. And I share in the testimony that GIPro has shaped me too to be driven by Call and not desire. To be a values-driven leader and Christ’s ambassador in whatever space.
